April 6, 2015- Conference
Hey family and friends!
I hope everyone had a great Easter and
Conference weekend! I love being able to hear from a living prophet and
apostles. What they say really is inspired and will help us to continue to walk
on the path back to our Heavenly Father. If you didn't get the chance to watch
all the sessions of General Conference, watch the rest as soon as possible because
all of the sessions were great.
As District Leader, all of my responsibilities
have increased. I had to direct District Meeting on Friday, make some
calls Sunday night to the sisters to get all their numbers for the
week, and then I had to call the Zone Leaders to report all of the information.
But- it’s all good.
It was pretty crazy Tuesday night! We were talking to a guy from El Salvador at
an apartment complex, when off in the distance heard three gunshots. The people
who were outside went into their apartments and shut their doors. A couple of minutes
later we saw two police cars drive past as they were investigating the incident.
On Wednesday, we taught five lessons. Two lessons were about the Restoration. The
spirit that is present in those Restoration lessons is so strong and there is
no way you can't know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon
is true.
On Friday, I had to direct a District
meeting where I basically stood up in the front and talked for an hour and a
half. We had a discussion about 2 Nephi 31 and practiced some lesson roleplays.
On Saturday, we did some service
for a member family in our branch. Hermano Trapp is from Provo, Utah. He didn't serve a Spanish-speaking mission
and yet his Spanish is perfect. He said that studying hard and twenty years of
practice from being married to his Hispanic wife is what helped him to speak
well. It felt great to do some physical labor. We dug a bunch of holes and put
up a fence in his yard.
Saturday and Sunday we
watched all the sessions of Conference, three of which I watched in Spanish.
Conference was so good. I can't wait to get the Ensign so that I can read them
again!
Hope everyone has a great week!
Love,
Elder Cannon
